Basecamp Bosnia & Herzegovina is a 2-week adventure workation set in one of the most beautiful small cities in the Balkans. After working together in Mostar’s flagship coworking space or your own private apartment, we’ll swap our laptops for hikes high above Mostar, cliffside via ferrata routes, local swimming spots, sunset wine tastings, and rafting on the wild Neretva River.Weekends are for bigger adventures. Get up close with Europe’s largest wild horse herd on a quad bike or jeep safari in Livno or hike deep into pristine mountains in Blidinje Nature Park or the majestic Prenj range in the Dinaric Alps and stay overnight in an authentic mountain hut.There’s also the option to spend a weekend in vibrant Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina’s capital city, or visit the mysterious Bosnian pyramids at Visoko which some claim are the oldest in the world!

Built around the emerald waters of the Neretva River, Mostar is a city where Ottoman architecture, Austro-Hungarian influences, and modern Balkan culture collide.Once divided by war, the city is now a vibrant, welcoming and extremely safe destination known for its resilience, rich history, and buzzing summer atmosphere packed with riverside bars and live music drifting through the ancient cobbled streets.It's also the perfect base for enjoying Bosnia & Herzegovina's pristine mountains, lakes, rivers, and wild, unspoilt places!
Our Basecamp Itinerary
Here’s all the activities that will be on offer during your workation (*subject to availability and weather conditions).You can choose to participate in as much or as little as you like, depending on your work schedule and personal preferences.

Week 1
Monday: Work • Mostar walking tour with a local guide
Tuesday: Work • Fortica sunset hike or Via Ferrata: Enjoy a scenic sunset hike above Mostar or an adrenaline-fuelled via ferrata climb ending at the “Devil’s Staircase” bridge (shown above).
Wednesday: Work • Sunset wine tasting: Taste local wines at a family-run Herzegovinian vineyard as the sun sets over rolling hills and vineyards
Thursday: Work • Free evening
Friday: Work • Blagaj Tekija visit and dinner: Explore a centuries-old monastery built beneath towering cliffs beside the turquoise Buna River spring.
Saturday & Sunday: Livno mountains & wild horses adventure weekend: Get up close to Europe’s largest wild horse herd on a quad bike or jeep safari.
Week 2
Monday: Work • Hutovo Blato Nature Park safari: Take a tranquil boat ride through the marshes at one of Europe’s largest bird reserves
Tuesday: Work • Afternoon exploring Stolac: Visit one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world
Wednesday: Neretva River rafting: Spend the day rafting the emerald waters of the Neretva through dramatic mountain canyons ending with a delicious barbecue lunch
Thursday: Work • Free evening out in Mostar / group dinner
Friday: Work • Afternoon swimming at Kravica Waterfalls & dinner: Hang out at the favourite local swim spot and wind down after the work week
Saturday–Sunday: Prenj or Blidinje hiking weekend: Go off grid for an overnight mountain adventure with epic hikes, remote huts, and sunrise views above the clouds. If conditions allow, we'll hike up to the natural arch known locally as "Hajdučka vrata" (shown above).

Where do we stay?
Our local team personally selects and books comfortable accommodation that has everything you need for a 2-week stay in Mostar. All accommodation includes access to a kitchen, dining area with a table or desks suitable for working, lounge space, and laundry facilities/services.Please let us know when booking if you have any special requirements to make your stay more comfortable! Where possible, we will give you 2 or 3 room or apartment options to choose from when confirming your booking.

Before the workation begins you’ll receive a menu of additional group activities to choose from (listed above in the itinerary) so you can choose your own adventure!To give you an idea of costs, afternoon visits to Stolac or Kravica would cost around €35-40 and full-day rafting on the Neretva around €80-90 depending on group size.
Frequently Asked Questions
When do we work?Almost all of our activities take place in the evening at around 18:00 or on the weekends, leaving the day free for work. Everything is optional, so you can pick and choose activities to suit your work schedule.Where do we work?Most of our guests choose to work either in their apartment or in local cafes, hotels and bars in Mostar. All apartments have desks or shared tables in lounge spaces suitable for working.Is there a coworking space?Our guests can also get access to Mostar’s flagship coworking space, Code Hub Mostar, for 120BAM/60 euros for 10 working days per month.Can I bring my pet?
Yes! Several previous Basecampers have brought along their dogs and cats for the adventure. We welcome well-behaved pets with prior notice (additional charges may apply). Please let us know when booking so we can make the appropriate arrangements.Who goes on these adventure workations?!Anyone who works online! Our guests tend to be adventure lovers who want to explore a new place with a welcoming, ready-made community of like-minded people. We promise you'll feel right at home!What happens after I book?Once your booking is confirmed and payment finalized, you'll be added to our community Whatsapp where we plan daily events and meetups for the duration of the workation.Who is running these workations?Your community manager will be on hand throughout the trip for any help or recommendations you might need.
